Here’s the Low Sodium Barbecue Sauce Recipe you were looking for. I hope you’re feeling better and with kidney or liver disease, it’s nice to have comfort food!!
INGREDIENTS
3 cans no sodium tomato sauce
1 cup No sodium added Ketchup
½ Cup Braggs apple cider vinegar (or your fave brand)
¼ Cup Agave Nectar, Molasses, Honey, Maple syrup or whatever you like to make it as sweet as you want.
1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
½ Onion diced small
A dash of liquid smoke if you like (I do not use it for personal health reasons)
1 tsp Garlic powder, Paprika, Ground Red Pepper, Ground mustard and any other seasonings you love.
Mrs. Dash Extra Spicy – I just shake and stir til it tastes good.
INSTRUCTIONS
You can cook this on low til the onions are tender and it gets nice and thick. Keep it in the fridge!
Stir it up and add to any recipe while it is cooking, such as baked beans, or meat.
XO Karen
PS I also have frozen it in plastic bags or containers. Glass jars would work too.
I’m unable to open it.
Sorry it took me a minute. So I just copied and pasted it in the body of the post for you. I was able to open it on my computer and my phone, so I’m not sure.
Thanks for letting me know, and now anyone can access by scrolling down the post.
Thanks so much and keep me posted!

What brand of no sodium ketchup do you use? Does it contain High Fructose etc?
Good question and here is the ingredient list from Heinz. Ingredients: Ingredients: Tomato Concentrate From Red Ripe Tomatoes, Distilled Vinegar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Corn Syrup, *Alsosalt® Salt Substitute (Potassium Chloride, L Lysine Monohydrochloride), Natural Flavoring, Spice, Onion Powder. *Not In Regular Ketchup.
Heinz No Salt Added Inverted Bottle Tomato Ketchup, 14 oz Bottle
Notic that it does contain those sugars, BUT you can keep a tube of tomato paste in the fridge and stir it in some of this ketchup. Then, add little water or vinegar to thin it down.
It sounds like a lot of work, but it’s SO VERY worth it down the road. I saved my kidney and liver by doing this. xoxo Karen
I use any brand that’s on sale. Some of them have more sugar than others. It’s sad that they add sugar to make up for salty taste.
One trick is to dilute it with some plain tomato paste. I buy it in tubes and then it keeps well in the fridge for easy use in any dish.

The recipe calls for 3 cans of no sodium tomato sauce. What size, please? Three 8oz cans or 16oz cans?
Use the small 8 oz. and sorry for not putting that in there! xo Karen
I answered this on my phone and now don’t see it posted. the 8oz cans is what I use. Sometimes I’ll add some no sodium tomato paste too.
I hope it works and sorry to be late.
