Hep C Thrush Treatment for Dry Mouth and Sores is easier with the Miracle Mouth Wash. If you have a metallic taste or mouth soreness, read on for food and medicine tips. Anyone can get thrush. It is not that serious and easy to treat. Some associate it with Candidas, but for this blog, we’ll talk about treatment and how it relates to hepatitis HCV.
Hepatitis C Treatment is an anti-viral treatment, but some of the side effects are like chemotherapy. They target the Hep C Virus, but have side effects like nausea, hair loss, fever, aches and pains. Another area is in your mouth.
I have covered teeth and gum problems here, but the Hep C thrush treatment for dry mouth and sores get a blog all of their own.
Mouth Sores and Thrush – Thrush is an overgrowth of yeast, and can cause canker sores, cracks at the sides of your mouth and open messes around your gums that can hurt. They are like blisters and you may get more than one at a time. Your mouth and tongue may also have a white coating. In the morning, it’s worse and my mouth would be sensitive, bright red and throb, tingle, and ache at times. Please talk to your doctor about Miracle Mouth Wash. It contains Benedryl, Maalox, and Nystatin.
Ingredients in Miracle Mouth Wash
What a miracle. The pharmacist may mix it for you. Follow your doctor’s direction.
Nystatin Oral Suspension liquid from the pharmacy – an antibiotic
Benedryl Children’s liquid – to numb and reduce pain
Maalox (not Kaopetate) – to thicken and coat your mouth longer
Recipe – Mix equal parts of each ingredient. I made my own and reduced the Benedryl a tad bit with my doctor’s permission because with my liver, it makes me groggy. I carried it in the large empty Ribavirin bottle. It lasted about 3 or 4 days. Toward the 30 week treatment mark, I used it several times daily.
How to use Miracle Mouth Wash – Shake before each use and use 2 Tablespoons. Swish for 2 minutes and spit. Do not swallow! Don’t drink or eat for at least 30 minutes. Let about 4 hours pass between swishes.
Cool and soothing. I ran out one time and did not refill. The sores came right back. I learned to keep it on hand and mixed up. It can create a little tingling when you first swish. What a miracle though.
But wait I have more tips for your mouth during treatment!
A nasty metallic taste in your mouth could be from the Telaprevir, Ribavirin, Boceprevir, Victrelis or whatever you are taking for treatment. Even water can taste weird. (Hint: Add lemon, orange slices, or ginger) It disappears when treatment is over.
Dry Mouth
Dry mouth may go along with some medications. It is more than just dehydration or thirst.
Dry mouth can cause you to have a hoarse throat and voice. It is hard to talk because your mouth clacks and your tongue feels swollen. Did you read my blog on teeth and gums?
You need saliva helps to protect your teeth from decay. With dry mouth, brushing becomes even more important.
A mouthwash and toothpaste containing Xylitol can help. Ask your doctor, but mouthwash with alcohol should be avoided. Biotene has a mouthwash, mints and sprays also. I noticed some relief, but to be honest – I still had a certain amount of dry mouth.
Drinking beverages at room temperature seems to help. Some of you may try lemon drops , but it can make sores more tender, and promote tooth decay.
This one is hard to read, I’ll bet. When you are going into treatment, it just sucks knowing all the side effects you will have to deal with. I hope this little blog gives you some mental relief about how you can get relief with Hep C Thrush Treatment for Dry Mouth and Sores.
As soon as you take that last dose, your mouth starts to clear up! All gone! xo Karen:)

Also, I have hepatitis C, compensated. I am having a very hard time with different symptoms. I have to rest a lot. I also experience some brain fog and other symptoms.
You are doing great work in helping others with your blog and face book page.
You are a healing gift for many. Thank you for you,
Susan Zamani aka Susanna Anna on face book.
Hi Susan,
Aw. Thank yo so much for your kind words. The symptoms are the pits. I also battle continuously. It seems like some battles rage on forever, doesn’t it? Looking at the images and songs for the blog, I thought how hard it is to maintain a smile during our darkest moments. Gosh, I’m crying girl. Do you do that too when you’re tired?
It is very healing for me to look for ways to improve our quality of life. I am struggling just like you do and writing is my outlet. It really touches me when your words are so sincere and I know we are not alone. We’ll keep looking for answers and enjoying every single hard won victory, won’t we? I’m sending you huge hugs right now.
Thank you is not enough,
I love you sis, Karen xoxoxoxo
Dear Karen,
You are a compassionate beautiful angel on earth. What a sweet blessing you are for many.
Yes, I’m suffering and thankfully receiving moments of relief every now and then.
Also, I am a writer and will be having my first book coming out very very soon. It is a children’s book and the name of it is Buggy Bee. I also have a website coming out soon: http://www.buggybee.net.
I have also written stories and poems about the road of my hep C cirrhosis. Here is a poem I wrote about what I’m experiencing.
So much love for you and the angel work you are doing here on earth.
Susan
Susan,
You are so so kind. Angel – Gosh. I’ll receive that since you say it so sincerely. I know that all of our friends are angels in disguise.
And YOU are an angel. I’ve spent the morning with your lovely poem and have posted it to ihelpc.com on Best Friend’s – Your Turn.
I was deeply moved by your words and am happy to share it with all of our Best Friends.
Please keep me posted on your work. It’s not easy to write on those days when fatigue and pain hit. But the beauty from our pain is a gift that only those who suffer would understand.
Thank you so much Dear Friend, with so much love back to you,
xoxo Karen:)
Dear Karen,
You are the light of the world blessing us all so sweetly and compassionately. Thank you for being my hero. Here is another poem to share that I wrote.
Use My Spirit
Another long endless night
feeling worse
enduring so much pain
My heart cries out
for every soul
helpless in desperation
forced to suffer
torment
loneliness
as their bodies fail to thrive
Dear heavenly spirit
let my pain be for some glorious purpose
use my soul
open me to every person
in the deepest richest way
Shed my masks
unblock this protected heart
make me a vessel of healing magic
a vessel of strength and encouragement
Release my heart blossoms
in full service of infinite love
Make me a bouquet of compassion
in the garden of our dreams
Help me open the eyes of my heart
of others terror and desolation
People suffering everywhere
eyes drained of any living expression
wandering and tired
losing color from their lives
their life force growing fainter
losing life’s simple joys
Let me send out rays of light
brightening their hearts
in some honest healing way
this moment, right now, today
I may not know how to play a single musical instrument
but I’ve asked You to tune my heart
let me be a holy presence
of infinite loving kindness
Beloved Spirit
use me
form me, shape me
make me your perfect instrument
a sparkling jewel of compassion
a heart companion
a true friend
Use me up in nature’s freedom
fill my spirit
bursting full with Your glorious music
let Your light shine through me
this is my holy anthem I sing
to those in need
day after day
God, use me
make me sing
sing until there’s not
a single note left inside my being
until every petal blossom
has fallen from this gentle rose in my heart
Have your way with me
make it glorious
let my golden light
shine in all your wonder
in the garden of my dreams
****
For I don’t know how much time I have left here in this world
don’t know how long I have to feel well enough
to sing your wondrous songs
Don’t know how much time I have left
to feel well enough to serve you, dear God
don’t know if I want to stay if I lose too much color
Whatever time I have left
use your healing magic
let not one person die alone
separated from your dear heart
as I speak my holy words of You
singing heartfelt melodies
releasing my golden heart
as I hold your sweet soft hand in mine
Use me up
to those in need
play my most beautiful songs of joyous love
Make highest use of my loving spirit
It’s the only reason why I’m still here
It’s the only reason why I’m still here…

Hello I have been helping Karen since April when she had her liver transplant, I came across this, thought it was beautiful and wanted to share it with others. I love the first paragraph
Dear Karen,
You are the light of the world blessing us all so sweetly and compassionately. Thank you for being my hero.
I was just blindsided. Just found out I have Hepatitis c. Now I discover I have Thrash and I have had it for some time. Getting an HIV test this week. I have a feeling I will be positive too. Are these illnesses connected?????
Oh Neil, I am so sorry to hear this. I know it is easier said than done but try to breathe. You have come to a very caring loving supportive place. I remember the feeling when I was first told I had HCV. I thought it was a death sentence I could not discuss it without crying. That was back in 2007. I am now cured. First….breath. Have you had the PCR test which would tell you your viral load? There are two tests. One is the one that tells you if you have been exposed. Then there is a second test that will tell you what your viral load and geno type is. It is possible for the body to fight off the HCV, it happens in about 25% of the time. I am not a doctor so don’t have exact figures. Some doctors are not aware of the second test and just hand people over to a GI/hepatologist.
As far as HIV, while it is possible, the thrush could be caused by your immune system fighting the HCV which would lower your immune system.
There are some very good places to get even more information. There is HepatitisC.net, then Lucinda Porter, a nurse has a very good site. I will get that site. I will pray for your Neil, please keep in touch, let us know how you are doing. You are not alone, there are many many caring people trying to help each other through the maze of HCV. Try to keep yourself hydrated with water, yogurt can help the thrush. Try not to eat any with a lot of sugar, Dee
Do you mind if I quote a couple of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your blog? My blog is in the exact same niche as yours and my users would really benefit from a lot of the information you present here. Please let me know if this ok with you. Appreciate it!
Hello, I would be honored please do site my name and blog. Thanks so much for asking 🙂
I have a problem living in a real small town . I am going to see a dr in a near town I reallly like him but I seem to know more than him This thrush thing is a b——. I .. do get pain meds but not enough. my heart even hurts as I fear I am not on the right track. Any suggestions????
Hi there! I am so sorry to hear. Have you tried taking probiotics? There is also now a probiotic that you let melt in your mouth. I find that helped me quite a bit. I bought Hyperbotics, Pro-dental. For pain there is something called magic mouthwash, it is a combination of different medications compounded by the pharmacy.
For instance, it could have a numbing solution, benedryl, medication for thrush. You hold it in your mouth for a few minutes, it numnbs and soothes your mouth. Then you can spit it our or swallow. Either way it helped to soothe my mouth. Plain yogurt can also help. I hope you feel better soon, Dee
