Writing a love letter from your future self can help you let go of the past, and move forward into a new year.It’s an annual event for me to receive a love letter from Future Me on New Years Day. Since I was at the Rose Bowl Parade this time last year, I wrote my letter from a Christmas cabin in the Sequoyah’s. In other words, it is something that I DO NOT skip, no matter what the schedule is like.
How Does This Work?
It’s so easy. Just go to futureme.com and create a free account. Write a letter and the date you want to receive it and it will show up in your inbox right on time. The above link will open a new page. After reading this blog, go there! Then please tell me about your experience. I think you will become addicted to this practice like me! It’s about falling in love with yourself enough to make every year greater than the last!
The Present State
There is certainly a lot of value to be in the moment. I’m a huge advocate of breathing in the future and exhaling the past. Making eye contact with the people you are talking to is a great way to be present with them and truly have intimacy in a relationship in the NOW.
By being aware of your posture and breathing patterns, you can stay calm. These things all keep us in the Now instead of the past or future in regard to worry or anxiety. This is a great topic for another blog. Today, I want you to dream of the future.
My Future Self
Have you ever sat in a quiet place and imagined what your future would be like? By engaging all of your senses, you can truly become your future self – in your imagination. If you love yourself enough to do this, it is amazing how your mind will help you achieve what you are dreaming of.
A Year From Now
Imagine yourself a year from now. Get a pencil and paper and make some notes.
What will you be doing? Sitting in a chair reading an email from your future self? Walking, cooking, in a vacation spot, sitting outdoors, talking with a friend, doing a hobby, practicing a skill?
What will you be wearing? Go ahead and imagine that money is no object. What will your outfit look like? What kind of shoes? If you imagine yourself at a ski chalet, wear warm clothing. If you imagine yourself on a beach, have swimwear and a beach towel. If you are at a park with family, imagine comfortable clothes. In the kitchen, you might have an apron. Maybe you will be wearing a smaller size due to your new Liver Loving Diet.
What will it smell like? Home cooked meals always smell like love. You might smell firewood, or the salty spray of ocean water. Perhaps you smell a garden or the scent of a baby in your arms.
What will you see? Perhaps you like bright blue skies with white puffy clouds. You might envision the thick, darkness of a forest. The cool tones of a grey sky may delight your mind. Will you see a room where you can have quiet solitude or is it filled with familiar faces of loved ones? Are you outdoors or inside?
What will be the textures? Perhaps it is a firm ground to stand on with bare feet. You might be on a yoga mat. Maybe you are on a bicycle and feel the solid seat beneath you. Maybe you are in the booth of a restaurant with your elbows propped as you talk with someone you care deeply for. If you are alone right now, go ahead a dream of a future where you will be with a trusted loved one. I did 12 years ago, while I was very sick. It worked! (author’s note: I was just reminded that this was our 13th New Years Day together)
A Love Letter from Future Me
Now go ahead and imagine your ideal spot one year from now and type it onto the futureme.org website. My current me this year was wrapped in a cozy blanket, with the bold scent of coffee. I can see the faint glow of a candle as I conjure up what all I can become in the next year.
Go ahead a dream of where you will be next year. Make yourself some promises. Pour your heart out about what you really want. Write it in the website. Then tell someone you love and trust about it. I hope that you fall in love with yourself all over again this year! XOXO Ka

Karen, GOOD ON YOU. I’ve been undetected (under 15.0) since 3/15. HCV RNA QUANT. ? my main malfunction now is my lumbar, never-ending pain but through RFA I may see relief in a couple years. Being 67 i require a pain-free existence.

I’m so sorry to hear that you are dealing with pain. We’re about the same age. I truly deal with lumbar and other joint pain. I believe some of it is related to our experience with Hep C.
Please tell me more about RFA and how you hope it will help. I’m currently doing a LOT of things to reduce pain and inglammation in my body. The success is really hopeful and I’d love to help you too.
